Fast Start for Rum Bum Racing at Miller Motorsports Park

Tooele, UT--9 September 2010 - GRAND-AM's promoter test days give teams and drivers the chance to tune up for the race weekend ahead, and Rum Bum Racing made the most of Thursday's test day at Miller Motorsports Park with a strong opening day at the track. While series officials don't provide official timing results, the timing monitors reflected a fast start for the team despite the fact that it is just their first visit to the Salt Lake City facility.

Drivers Matt Plumb and Nick Longhi were right on the pace to start the weekend as the team looks to continue an impressive streak of results heading into Saturday's 2010 GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge season finale. The weekend will see the series utilizing a 3.048-mile circuit for the first time after several seasons of racing on the 4.4-mile track layout.

The last two rounds of GRAND-AM racing have seen Rum Bum Racing take second place at New Jersey Motorsport Park and then go one better to take a race win at Trois Rivieres in the most recent event. The strong finishes have helped to push BMW to the top of the Manufacturer Championship standings ahead of the 2.5-hour race on Saturday, and the team is focused on pushing the Roundel to the top with another strong finish.

"Things went exactly to plan for us so it was a good day at the track," said Plumb. "It was good to get a jump on the weekend with the test day. And for Nick and I this was a good chance to see what the M3 was like on this new, shorter circuit we are running this weekend. Of course, it's just practice so even though we were happy with our times, we know the real work will start tomorrow in the official sessions! But this was a very good way to start things off and hopefully we can just keep improving as the track gets more rubber down and hopefully keeps gaining grip."
