San Clemente CA (April 26, 2006) --- After a successful test in Toronto last week in Kensai Racings new Acura RSX , Billy Johnson was at VIR to help with car development, work on team integration, and serve as an back up driver to Karl Thomson and David Ciekiewicz for the Kensai Racing/Compass Racing 360 no.76 Acura RSX . Billy will drive the No. 76 car with Karl Thompson at Laguna Seca May 6th.

Due to rapidly changing weather conditions ROAR RACING added Billy as a third driver to the No. 62 Mazda RX-8. Over the past year, Billy has established himself as one of the best young guns in the Grand-Am series. His ability to jump into any race car and be on pace with minimal seat time showed once again this weekend. Billy's excellent history of speed, performance in the rain, and ability to handle all manner of car set ups led Roar to place Billy in the No 62 car. This car had been having fuel delivery problems and it was felt Billy would have the best chance of bringing it home safe with a good result.

Roar Racing team owner Nick Gurucharri's confidence in Billy was well placed as Billy finished in a strong 17th place despite the fuel delivery problem that limited the car to full throttle or nothing. This throttle characteristic made driving in wet conditions especially challenging. Billy's finish was the best of the three Roar Racing machines and his laptimes were only a couple of seconds off the No. 70 Speedsource Mazda RX-8 of Sylvain Tremblay. "Billy did an excellent job in tough race conditions. The crew took a gamble and opted to remain on rain tires with the hope for more rain which never came. All three cars came home in one piece and the team is gearing up for our return to Laguna Seca," stated Nick.

Over the course of the weekend Billy Johnson was very impressed with the whole Roar Racing organization.

"I feel Roar Racing has great team chemistry and a great organizational structure. The team is one of the newer teams in Grand-Am Cup and is comprised of a young staff. From top to bottom everyone I interacted with was intelligent, very receptive and great to work with. I feel confident that as the season progresses they will be a consistent top 10 team."
