Turbo Performance Center ready for wet, wild race in Virginia; Cars driven by Pobst/Schrom and Levitas/Pappas happy with qualification effort, get ready for wild ride.

(Danville, VA - 31 August, 2002) Conditions for this afternoon's Grand-Am Cup Street Stock Series at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) may be damp, but that doesn't mean that drivers and crew from The Turbo Performance Center's two-car, four-driver team are discouraged. With popular Porsche Factory Ace Randy Pobst teamed up with Rolex 24-Hours of Daytona Winner Michael Schrom qualifying 5th on the grid, just ahead of Team Owner/Driver Michael Levitas and co-driver Tim Pappas, the team's spirits are much higher than one would expect by looking at the overcast, wet conditions here today.

This weekend marks the first time that Pobst and Schrom have driven together in the Turbo Performance Center Porsche GT-3 Cup Car Sponsored by Ajilon Consulting and Fred Baker Porsche/Audi. Thanks to continuous research and development by Levitas and his crew at TPC, the new European Porsche Chassis they use has been"figured out." Levitas and full-time Co-Driver Fred Baker first nailed the set-up at Mid-Ohio a few weeks ago running the fastest lap in pre-race practice. Unfortunately during the race, they were knocked out of a sure second place finish when another driver knocked Baker temporarily off the track, loosing four positions. This morning at VIR, BOTH TPC cars were quick again, turning in the first and second-fastest times of the session, leaving the team excited to get the race underway.

"We have had some frustration trying to get the correct set-up on the Euro chassis," commented Levitas."Everyone has worked so hard and I'm happy that we are all starting to see the pay-off. Despite being taken out of second at Mid-Ohio, we accomplished a lot that weekend and I think we have continued to learn more since then. Obviously I am happy with this morning's practice times, so I am ready to get on the track for the race."

Levitas and his teammates will see the competition differently when the race-- the second of the Grand-Am Cup Twin 250's this weekend at VIR -- starts this afternoon. The threatening skies have finally struck, constant rain flooding the track for the last few hours. So much water in fact that qualifications for tomorrow's Grand-Am Rolex Series 500 was suspended due to standing water on the track. Weather reports for the area predict no changes for the rest of the day. Pobst isn't worried about the conditions here today.
