McDowell to do Double Duty at Watkins Glen

Michael McDowell, already slated to compete in the Grand Am Cup Race at Watkins Glen, announced today that he has secured an additional ride in the Rolex Cup six-hour event. McDowell will drive a Porsche GT3 in the SGS class with G&W Motorsports. McDowell was contacted by G&W Motorsports team owner Cole Scrogham and asked to share the seat with Tom Nastasi and Mae Van Wijk.

Finlay Motorsports will be a title sponsor for both of McDowell's efforts for the weekend. "We are excited to have McDowell running in both races this weekend," said Rob Finlay of Finlay Motorsports, "it will be a challenge for Michael, but one he is up for." Rob Finlay will be making his debut in the GS class this weekend as McDowell's co-driver in the BGB Porsche.

"It was a compliment to get this phone call from a team like G&W," stated McDowell, "I look forward to working with Price Cobb and all of the team." G&W has a strong track record in the Grand American arena, winning various championships in each of the past three years.

The 2004 Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen takes place this weekend (June 18-20) at Watkins Glen International Raceway and the Rolex Cup race will be covered Sunday live on Speed Channel. The Glen is one of only two road courses that the NASCAR Nextel Cup visits making it home to New York State's largest weekend sporting event.
