TheRaceSite.com Takes First and Fourth, Again

Watkins Glen, NY, June 22, 2004 - Some may view it as sheer coincidence but Joe Nonnamaker from TheRaceSite.com Racing calls it a "strange occurrence."

"Our team has taken first and fourth place in four out of five races, this is certainly a strange occurrence but I am not complaining." declares Nonnamaker.

TheRaceSite.com racing team has seen its share of top five finishes this season and leads the Grand Am Cup series in team points. All, except one fifth place finish, are first and fourth places. This past weekend during the Watkins Glen 250, it was no different.

TheRaceSite.com team entered the race with four cars and eight experienced drivers. Driving No. 44 was points leader, Craig Stanton, and partner David Murry. In the No. 43 car was the Nonnamakers, Joe and Wayne. The father/son team of Sam and Brett Shanaman hoped to repeat past success in the No. 41 car. While behind the wheel of the No. 40 car was the recently created duo of Joe Masessa and Buddy Stubbs.

Craig Stanton and David Murry took advantage of several of the nine cautions during the race. The No. 44 drivers completed the race with yet another first place finish. Stanton and Murry avoided disaster and took advantage of the yellow flags. Cautions four and eight allowed the pair to overtake race leaders. Shortly before the ninth and final caution, David Murry passed the leading No. 35 Schuitemaker Nissan. The ninth caution ended the race under yellow flag conditions allowing Murry to take the win. While Stanton has won four races this season, this marks the first time one of those wins came with David Murry.

"The restarts were really tough. Our plan was to just keep passing as many people as possible. David did a great job and came from the back to the front twice," commented Stanton.

"That race is what racing is all about! It was tough and you had to pick and choose where to pass. It was a great win," added Murry.

Craig Stanton now holds a tighter grasp on driver points, with Terry Borcheller, who shared in Stanton's first three wins of the season in second in the points. Stanton's teammates Joe and Wayne Nonnamaker are currently tied in third. In fourth place is Doncaster Racing driver, Robert Julien.

The Nonnamakers took fourth place in the race and are pleased with the achievements of the team.

"All the drivers are doing very well and Watkins Glen is a tough track," stated Wayne Nonnamaker. "There is a lot of down time now for the Cup season but we can begin to focus on Mid Ohio."

Partners Joe Masessa and Buddy Stubbs were fighting with the top five drivers during one point of the race. They avoided trouble as well and finished in eighteenth place. The pair has remained quite competitive during the Grand Am Cup races.

Brett Shanaman, with two previous wins at the Glen, hoped for repeated glory in Saturday's race. He and his father, Sam, finished in ninth place during the Glen 250. This was the first race in 2004 the Shannamans raced as members of TheRaceSite.com's team.

The Grand Am Cup series will continue August 6th at the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course.

TheRaceSite.com Racing team is able to remain a tough competitor in the Grand-Am Cup Grand Sports class with the help of HRPworld.com, HAWK Performance, Kempthorn Auto Mall, SpeedSource, TheRaceMarket.com, K&N Filters, Infinity2, Bob Bondurant Driving Schools, North Jersey Dermatology Center, Buddy Stubbs' Harley Davidson, Grassroots Motorsports Magazine and 9 Magazine.
