Synergy Racing heads into season finale fresh from podium finish at Infineon Raceway
TOOELE, Utah (September 1, 2006) -- Synergy Racing will wrap up its run in the 2006 Rolex Sports Car Series this weekend in the Discount Tire Sunchaser at Miller Motorsports Park. The team enters the season finale on a high note following its podium finish in the GT class and clean run in the Daytona Prototype category at Infineon Raceway last weekend.
Drivers Leh Keen, of Dublin, Ga., and David Murry, of Atlanta, Ga., piloted the No. 80 SHOES FOR CREWS® Porsche to a third-place GT finish last Saturday.
"Our GT program has put together some great results this season, especially when you consider some of biggest competition comes from big-budget teams with substantial corporate and factory backing," remarked Cole Scrogham, Synergy Racing co-owner.
Synergy Racing's No. 8 Porsche Doran JE4 is also coming off one of its best runs of the season. The No. 8 SHOES FOR CREWS® Porsche Doran took the checkered flag at Infineon Raceway without any major incidents.
Unfortunately the 15th-place finish does not reflect how good of a race it really was for the Daytona Prototype. Despite a great run and taking checkered without a scratch on it, the team ended up losing a lap in the pits due to trouble getting the steering wheel back on during the first pit stop.
"That's just the unfortunate side affect of not having a steady driver line-up right now," explained Scrogham. "Hopefully the updates we've made to the Doran chassis will make the car competitive again after the weight penalties this season. The team is eager to move ahead with our DP into the 2007 season."
This weekend the team will also unveil its new Porsche GT3 Cup it's slated to campaign in 2007.
"We've been preparing for the 2007 season for several months, and we're excited to unveil our new Porsche GT race car we'll be running in the Rolex 24 and throughout the 2007 season," added Scrogham.
