WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (August 7, 2010) -- GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing, and drivers Alex Gurney and Jon Fogarty, finished third in Saturday's Crown Royal 200 at Watkins Glen International for the team's first back-to-back top-three podium finishes of the season, and also took sole possession of third place in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype Team Championship.

Gurney and Fogarty ran in the lead pack throughout the two-hour timed twilight sprint race on The Glen's NASCAR "short course" and moved to third from fourth place after Gurney weaved his way through a multi-car accident in Turn 1 just after a late-race restart.

"A lot of guys came together in Turn 1 and I just managed to avoid it," Gurney said. "I was lucky to get through their cleanly, and unfortunately the third-place No. 61 Daytona Prototype got caught up, which was a good thing for us," said Gurney, who drove the final 75 minutes of the race. "Overall, a pretty tough day and we definitely didn't have the pace of the top-two leaders, so I think we got the most out of it. I think we can be happy with what we did today."

Fogarty started the race from fourth on the grid and led a lap during pit stops when he and the rest of the Daytona Prototype front runners cycled in for green-flag stops just prior to the race's 45-minute mark.

"We are pretty happy to be up here finishing third," Fogarty said. "We were back in fifth place for awhile there when I lost a position at the start, but it's pretty good to string a couple of podiums in a row together after the type of challenging season we have been having. It was another strong performance for the GAINSCO team and we look forward to keeping it going for the rest of the year."

Saturday's third-place finish followed GAINSCO's first win of the season one race ago at New Jersey Motorsports Park. It was the first time Gurney and Fogarty drove the "Red Dragon" to back-to-back podium finishes in nearly a year after a third-place finish in the 2009 Montreal 200 was followed by a victory at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah last September.

The podium showing also let the No. 99 GAINSCO Auto Insurance Chevrolet Riley break a tie for third place in the GRAND-AM Rolex Series Daytona Prototype Team Championship standings with 261 points. The No. 01 TELMEX/Chip Ganassi Racing BMW Riley extended its championship lead to 302 points with a victory in today's Crown Royal 200, but GAINSCO is only 11 points behind the second-place No. 10 SunTrust Ford Dallara. The No. 10, which finished second in the Crown Royal 200, has 272 points.

Next up for GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing and the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series is the Montreal 200 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, August 27 - 28.
