PRUETT PUTS LEXUS ON FRONT ROW FOR SIX HOURS AT THE GLEN
WATKINS GLEN, NY (June 8, 2007) -- Scott Pruett qualified his #01 Telmex Lexus-Riley on the outside of the front row to lead four Lexus-powered Daytona Prototypes into the top-11 in qualifying for Saturday's Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen.
Pruett, who will co-drive with Memo Rojas, will be attempting to win a second consecutive Grand-Am event at Watkins Glen after winning at the track last August. He also was victorious in the 2004 Six Hours of The Glen.
"We're happy with where we'll start tomorrow," said Pruett, who has nine victories in races that are six hours or more, "but, I think we may have a better car for the race than we did in qualifying. It seems like our team really shines in the endurance races. Our whole package works well. The pit-work, our team strategies, our reliability all seem to come together in the endurance races."
Also joining Pruett in the top-10 were Oswaldo Negri in the #60 Michael Shank Racing Lexus-Riley in ninth and Michael Valiante, Pruett's Chip Ganassi Racing teammate, who was 10th in the Z-Line Designs/Make-A-Wish Lexus-Riley. Just outside of the top-10 was the AIM Autosport #61 Exchange Traded Gold Lexus-Riley with Burt Frisselle behind the wheel.
With the #6 Michael Shank Racing Lexus-Riley driven by Ian James in 13th and the Southard Motorsports #3 PLP Lexus-Riley driven by Shane Lewis in 14th, each of the five Lexus-powered entries qualified in the top-14 today.
Saturday's Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen will be televised live by SPEED in two segments beginning at 11 a.m. EST.
