Oliver Jarvis makes successful sportscar debut
Asian Le Mans Series: Oliver Jarvis made a successful sportscar debut: At the wheel of the privately run team Kolles Audi R10 TDI the Audi 'factory' driver finished fourth and fifth together with Christian Bakkerud in the inaugural running of the Asian Le Mans Series at Okayama (Japan). In his first sportscar race on Saturday Jarvis even mounted the podium. However, Jarvis/Bakkerud subsequently lost third place due to a time penalty.
Another podium for the Audi R8 LMS
VLN: Team Phoenix Racing recorded another podium result with the Audi R8 LMS at the final round of the BFGoodrich endurance championship at the Nurburgring. Marc Basseng, Frank Biela and Frank Stippler finished third in front of the sister car of Hans-Joachim Stuck, Johannes Stuck and Dennis Rostek which had fallen well down the field following a spin in the opening stages.
Victory for Audi R8 LMS in Spanish guest race
International GT Open: Team Phoenix Racing steered the Audi R8 LMS to victory in its first ever appearance in the "International GT Open" sportscar race series at Barcelona: After fifth place in the first race on Saturday the two Swiss drivers Jean-Denis Deletraz and Andrea Piccini won the GTS class with their R8 LMS in the second race on Sunday.
Three Audi drivers at the Race of Champions
Race of Champions: On Tuesday and Wednesday in the Olympic stadium in Beijing (China) the Race of Champions is held -- a competition between the world's best racing and rally drivers. The two Audi 'factory' drivers Tom Kristensen and Mattias Ekstrom, who has already won the Race of Champions twice in 2006 in Paris and 2007 in London, compete once again. Furthermore, the Audi drivers form Team Scandinavia in the Nations Cup. Former Audi 'factory' driver Emanuele Pirro, who qualified for the final in China with a win in the Race of Champions South Europe, starts in the Nation Cup for Monaco.
