Wall Looking for more Australian GT success at GP
The 2009 Australian GT Champion David Wall has his sights set on victory in the second round of the 2010 Championship at the Formula One Qantas Australian Grand Prix this weekend.
David kicked off his 2010 championship campaign in perfect style at the Clipsal 500 just two weeks ago by scoring three race wins from three race in his Wall Racing Porsche Cup S sponsored by Wilson Security.
In a significant milestone, David's win in the first race of the 2010 series was Wilson Security's first ever win and for David it was the best way to welcome onboard his new sponsor.
"The opening round of the Championship went far better than we had expected," said David in the lead up to the second round.
"I had not even done one lap in my Porsche since the final round of the Championship at Homebush last year so to be that quick straight out of the box was a bonus.
"I am not expecting to have things my own way this weekend though -- there are some very quick guys in the field who had a few problems or made mistakes at Clipsal and I think we will see them bounce back this weekend.
"The Grand Prix is always a great round -- loads of spectators and an amazing atmosphere, I can't wait to get out on the track on Thursday afternoon!"
David is returning to the Melbourne circuit in the same car that he dominated the Grand Prix support races last year, winning all three races.
With a massive field of 40 cars on the grid this weekend, David is expecting to be pushed just as hard as he was in the opening round of the Championship.
The Australian GT Series is a parity-adjusted series that includes an amazing array of marques from David's Porsche GT3 Cups S to an Aston Martin DBRS9 and Lamborghini Gallardo GT3s to a Lotus Exige S.
Returning this year with David are his loyal sponsors Payce, Shannons and Mount Aqua.
The Australian GT series hits the track on Thursday at 13:30 for practice followed closely by qualifying at 16:35. Race one is on Friday morning at 11:00.
Saturday and Sunday's races will be shown live during Ten's coverage of the Formula One Qantas Australian Grand Prix.
