Balfe Motorsport Spa 1000km practice notes

The Balfe Motorsport Mosler MT900R led the British GT field ahead of qualifying for the gruelling 1000km race on Sunday afternoon.

The driver line-up of Shaun Balfe, Jamie Derbyshire and reigning British GT Champion, Thomas Erdos, proved to be more than a match for the incredibly wet conditions, with the Brazilian setting a time of 2m 46.30s on the last flying lap of free practice.

"The car is working really well so far this weekend and at the front is where we need to be at the end of the weekend. All three of us are on the money in terms of speed in the conditions, so it is encouraging." Said Balfe.

Erdos was very happy with his lap, especially after such a short amount of time in the car.

"It is a credit to the team for their work this season that the car is so easy to drive from the word go." He explained. "The lap was good and the car has so much grip that it felt comfortable, there is certainly more to come as we get the car set-up more precise." He added.

GT rookie Derbyshire was pleased with his performance in the early stages of the weekend too, and is looking forward to more time on the fast and flowing Grand Prix venue, even if it is wet.

"The car felt really good in the wet weather at every part of the track and I am happy with my times so far. I know that there are places that I can go a little quicker and all three of us are at the top of the times so we just have to keep working away over the weekend." Said Jamie.

The team will know just how close their rivals are tomorrow when they take to the circuit for the first official qualifying session at 9:55am (Belgian time).
