ROCKINGHAM PREVIEW
After a long break the British GT Championship returns this weekend for three days of Bank Holiday racing at Rockingham. Michael Cullen and Paddy Shovlin are at the top of the leaderboard after some great performances in the first few races of the season, including their win at Oulton Park.
Luke Hines and Jeremy Metcalfe will be out to take their second win of the year and challenge Michael and Paddy's championship position, after taking their first win at Knockhill a few weeks ago.
James Sutton and Michael Meadows are yet to take a race victory so they are aiming to put this right with a strong showing at Rockingham this weekend.
CR Scuderia Ferrari no.15: Michael Cullen & Paddy Shovlin
MICHAEL CULLEN: "Neither Paddy or myself have raced at Rockingham before but the circuit is reminiscent of Indianapolis, Daytona and Homestead and we've raced at all of those. You could say we're familiar with oval infields. We've seen that the competition is incredibly tough in British GT and so far we have had four lucky races. I hope we can continue to be lucky; I'd rather be lucky than clever."
CR Scuderia Ferrari no.16: Luke Hines & Jeremy Metcalfe
LUKE HINES: "I've always had good results at Rockingham and some great races there. I had a particularly close race there in 2006 against Chris Niarchos - Chris in the Ferrari and me in the Panoz - probably too close actually but the championship was going down to the wire and we had to get a result. I don't think this will be the strongest circuit for us, as the Vipers and Porsches will be very fast there, but Jeremy and I bagged our first win at Knockhill and now we want another one."
CR Scuderia Ferrari no.14: James Sutton & Michael Meadows
JAMES SUTTON: "I like Rockingham; I think it's the only anti-clockwise circuit on the British GT calendar, it has some great overtaking opportunities and the banking at turn one is mega. The first three-quarters of my races at Rockingham have always gone well and then it has gone pear-shaped just a few laps before the end. Last year I was leading the Porsche race, ahead of Andrew Kirkaldy, with four or five laps to go, and I got a puncture. I had to pit and Andrew won the race. I led the Formula BMW race there in 2004 until I spun on oil. I'm hoping history won't repeat itself this time as Michael and I are due a change of luck. A CRS Ferrari has won every weekend so far so now it's our turn!"
