GEDDIE & ASHBURN SEAL BRITISH GT TITLE

Aberdeen's Glynn Geddie helped clinch the 2010 British GT Championship title for co-driver David Ashburn as the pair claimed a win and 5th place at Brands Hatch this weekend.

After qualifying in P2 for Race 1 their Trackspeed Porsche 997 GT3R entry was late to the grid after the race was suddenly moved forward on the day's schedule, meaning Ashburn was forced to start the race from the pit lane.

Coming through from the back of the field Ashburn cleared the traffic with an error free stint and handed the car to the Apex Tubulars-backed Geddie after 23 minutes in 5th position.

Geddie rejoined still in P5 behind the Ascari of David and Godfrey Jones, which later retired with suspension failure. He then made his way up to P1 after passing the sister Trackspeed entry of Phillip Walker and Richard Westbrook to bring home a perfect 1-2 for the team.

Starting from 6th on the grid for Race 2, Geddie dropped a place at the start but continued a solid drive on a wet track to bring the car in to Ashburn in P4 after 42 minutes of the 32 lap race.

Ashburn had a quick moment at Graham Hill Bend during his stint when he was caught out by the weather conditions, but collected it up swiftly and brought the car home in 5th, to secure the championship crown.

Glynn Geddie:
"Congratulations to David - he's done a fantastic job all season and he thoroughly deserves to be champion.

"It's been a great weekend and we achieved everything we needed to, and it was made even better with a Trackspeed 1-2 in Race 1.

"Although the title is wrapped up and we can go to Donington with a bit of pressure off us, we will keep pushing and hopefully retain 2nd in the championship for me."

Geddie moves up to 2nd place in the championship standings on 65 points, with the only real threat, the MTECH Ferrari of Matt Griffin and Duncan Cameron, just behind on 63 points as the season draws to a close at Donington Park in three weeks time.
