Reigning Caterham EuroCup champion Simon Pullan will race in the British GT Championship this season with crack GTO squad, Rollcentre Racing.

Pullan, 19, will share the team’s race-winning TVR Tuscan R with team boss, Martin Short.“ I’m over the moon because this is something I’ve always wanted to do,” he said.“ I’m in a good car and I’m sure we can be quick straight out of the box.”

“ I tested the TVR at Silverstone in October. It’s a very nice car to drive, quite different to the Caterham but I quickly found my feet. I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel for pre-season testing.”

Rollcentre Racing finished third in last season’s GTO points standings but will be looking to challenge for championship honours in 2002.

“ I’m aware that taking on a young lad with little experience is a bit of a risk but the youth of today is far more mature than it was in my day and I’m looking forward to helping Simon with his career,” Short commented.

“ Anyone who can win two championships has got to be a good driver and I think this is the year when we have the best chance of really attacking the championship.”

After his giant-killing run to the EuroCup title, Pullan scooped one of the highest accolades in national racing when he was nominated for the prestigious BRDC McLaren Mercedes Autosport Young Driver of the Year Award.

Despite two seasons of Caterham racing, Pullan has yet to experience four of the ten circuits on the British GT calendar. As part of his preparations for the new season, testing duties will be dovetailed with track days at Oulton Park, Rockingham, Silverstone International and Thruxton.

The British GT Championship begins at Brands Hatch on April 1st. As part of a new initiative, the series will appear on the same bill as the British Touring Car Championship at three meetings this year.
