Pullan & Short hoping for better luck at Thruxton.

BRDC Rising Star Simon Pullan and his Rollcentre Racing team-mate, Martin Short will aim to put their title aspirations back on track at Thruxton this coming weekend in the penultimate round of the British GT Championship.

Despite leading the title hunt for nine of the last ten races, the TVR Tuscan R pairing now trail EMKA Porsche driver Tim Sugden by ten points. Like Pullan and Short, Sugden has been a consistent points scorer all season and was able to capitalise when the Rollcentre car was involved in a huge accident at Oulton Park four weeks ago. A second DNF, caused by a suspension failure while Pullan looked set for GTO class victory at Snetterton last weekend, allowed the former GT Champion to usurp his title rivals at the head of the table. However, with fifty points still up for grabs, two race wins would seal the title in Pullan and Short's favour.

"We were obviously disappointed to have lost the lead at this stage in the season but these things can and do happen in motorsport," Pullan commented. "Although it looks like we are going to have to win the last two races, that is an achievable target and one I believe we are capable of matching.

"Needless to say we won't take any unnecessary risks but the bit is well and truly between our teeth."

While Pullan has yet to race on the ultra-quick Thruxton circuit, he completed a handful of installation laps there recently and believes the Texaco Xavex Mole Valley Rollcentre Racing Tuscan R will be well suited to the challenging Hampshire track.

"Unfortunately the car was still being fixed when the official Thruxton test took place so we haven't run there yet. Since I've never driven the circuit before I went down to Thruxton and thanks to Team Parker Racing, managed a few laps in a Caterham Superlight.

"We expect the Tuscan R to be ideally suited to Thruxton because it is a powerful car that will excel in the high speed corners. "

Round eleven of the BRDC British GT Championship will begin at 14.15 on Sunday 15th September.
