THIRD FOR GEDDIE ON BRITISH GT DEBUT

Scottish racing driver Glynn Geddie impressed with his debut in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Knockhill today with a 3rd placed finish, pairing up with David Ashburn in the Trackspeed-prepared Porsche GT3-R. Unfortunately the car was retired in the second race after the Apex Tubulars-backed ace was forced off and out of the running.

Continuing to display the pace Trackspeed had in the opening round at Oulton Park, Geddie and Ashburn both qualified in P4 in their respective qualifying sessions this morning.

Ashburn started Race 1 and got up to a solid 3rd place before handing the reins over to Geddie, who put in a stellar performance to challenge the MTECH Ferrari 430 Scuderia of Matt Griffin for 2nd. Although consistently quicker than Griffin, the number 7 Trackspeed entry had to eventually settle for a fine 3rd, topping off an outstanding drive on the 19 year-old's first time out in the championship.

In Race 2 Geddie was the one to leave the grid but lost a position early on and was running in P5. Steering clear of trouble when carnage broke out later in the race, the BRDC Rising Star found himself up in 2nd and dicing with the 430 Scuderia of Adam Wilcox for the lead.

Geddie pounced by lining up Wilcox coming into the chicane, managing to get past, when he was forced off on to the grass and had to limp back to the pits with a puncture and front bumper damage. The team were left no option but to retire their entry and end what could have been their first victory of the season.

Glynn Geddie:
"Trackspeed have been absolutely spot on all weekend and I've thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to work with them. I'm really pleased to have come away with P3 in Race 1 and keep the team's momentum going. Unfortunately I was forced off and ultimately out in Race 2 which is very frustrating as we could have won the race, but that's racing I guess.

"I really appreciate the drive from Dave (team owner Ashburn) and, all things considered, have had a great weekend and worked productively with everyone in the team. Hopefully this won't be just a one-off and we can continue our relationship into the season."

TV coverage of today's races will be aired on Sunday 16th May on Channel 4 from 7.30am - 7.55am and Motors TV from 8.45pm - 9.50pm.

Geddie now focuses back on his Porsche Carrera Cup GB duties, the next round of which takes place at Oulton Park, Cheshire on the 5th and 6th of June.
