PROTOTYPE TECHNOLOGY GROUP BMW M3 TEAM - Press Notes for Sunday, June 14 United States Road Racing Classic at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (Lexington, Ohio)

AUBERLEN, SAID LEAD 1-2 PTG BMW M3 FINISH IN GT3 Bill Auberlen and Boris Said enjoyed a perfect day in the No. 10 Yokohama/Fina BMW M3 four-door, winning from pole to checkered flag and leading a 1-2 PTG BMW M3 finish in today's U.S. Road Racing Classic at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Teammates Ross Bentley and Mark Simo, starting from third on the GT3 grid in the No. 1 Yokohama/Fina BMW M3 four-door, finished a lap down in the 2½-hour USRRC-sanctioned event but won the race-long battle for the runner-up spot with a pair of Porsche 911 competitors. It was the second consecutive 1-2 finish for the PTG team in events sanctioned by the revived USRRC, and the team's fourth 1-2 finish overall this season counting races sanctioned by rival Professional Sports Car Racing, Inc. Overall, it was the team's 20th win in 36 races entered since 1995. BMW M3s have now won 22 of their last 24 races.

BILL AUBERLEN, No. 10 Yokohama/Fina BMW M3 Four-Door: "This was exactly what the doctor ordered. Yesterday in qualifying, we really wanted to get the pole after failing to the last race (at Lime Rock), and the team put together an exceptional car for me and we pulled it out. Today, we had just a wonderful race car. We had zero problems from start to finish. We had a great pit stop. And the rest is history. It's a real pleasure to work with such a first-class organization."

BORIS SAID, No. 10 Yokohama/Fina BMW M3 Four-Door: "What can you say. We have a great car. We have a great team. We have a great set of drivers. If everybody just does their job, there's no one who can beat us. I think our greatest edge is that we have probably the most equal set of drivers out there, and any one of us can hand the car off to another guy and have faith that he'll bring it home in good shape.

ROSS BENTLEY, No. 1 Yokohama/Fina BMW M3 Four-Door: "It was a fun race. I had a great time dicing for second place with the two (Nos. 07 and 23) Porsches. But, as usual, the team did a perfect pit stop to put us in position to get second place, and Mark (Simo) just took it from there. He did a great job."

MARK SIMO, No. 1 Yokohama/Fina BMW M3 Four-Door: "Not bad for my first time, eh? I wasn't as happy today as I was during practice the last two days. Race traffic is a lot different than it is during practice. But we got the job done and brought home another 1-2 finish. I feel really fortunate to be a part of such a great team. These guys seem to outdo themselves each and every race."

SCOTT DONIGER, M Brand Manager, BMW of North America, Inc.: "Today was a classic example of teamwork paying off. One car has a flawless day. The other (No. 1 PTG BMW M3) comes in fourth place and has a great pit stop that puts it in position to get second place, and the driver (Mark Simo) does his job. This is a great way to kick off a grueling three-race stretch in the schedule (with Road Atlanta and the downtown streets of Minneapolis coming up in the next two weekends). The team is certainly energized after fighting off some close competition by the Porsches that keep on coming closer each race."

TOM MILNER, PTG Team Owner: "What can I say? These guys never cease to amaze me. This is more than a team owner can ever ask for. Each race, they settle for nothing less than a win and a runner-up spot. It's sheer determination and hard work that just keeps paying off for us. Today, we won a great battle for second place, and the guys just went out and made it happen."
