Joel Camathias is preparing for a new experience, as in-between his International GT Open commitments, he will be taking part to the second round of the GT Asia Series 2014, to be held at Autopolis, Japan on 31st May- 1st June, where he will be partnering with Chinese driver Songyang Fu at the wheel of the Aston Martin Vantage V12 GT3 prepared and entered by Chinese squad NB Team. The opportunity came as a date clash prevents Andrea Caldarelli, the regular team mate of Songyang Fu, to participate in this event.

Joel Camathias: “I am always ready to discover new things and I am excited about this opportunity to race in a different environment and with a car new to me. It all stemmed from a phone call from Andrea Caldarelli, with whom we are friends since years. He is the regular team mate of Songyang Fu in the GT Asia, but because of his commitments as Toyota works driver in the Japanese SuperGT, he cannot do this race and offered me to sub for him. I immediately said yes.

I have raced in Asia but never at Autopolis, and I have never driven before an Aston Martin, so it will be all new to me. NB Team is a Chinese outfit, and has among its staff some international people and a former DTM engineer, and the car is a 2014- spec Vantage V12. I hope to adapt quickly and the first objective is to assist as best as possible Songyang Fu, who is the regular driver of the car.”
