Team Modena is aiming to be back on track in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship in 2010, returning to the series with the pair of GT3-specification Lamborghini Gallardos they competed with in 2008. Development work by the team, engineers at Lamborghini Wycombe and by Reiter Engineering, who originally built the Gallardos, has seen the engine issues that hampered their performance at certain circuits addressed - and the team are now looking for drivers in a position to mount a GT challenge in 2010.

"We have worked on the issues that took the edge of the Gallardo's performance and are now confident that we have a car we can race hard," said Team Principal Graham Schultz. "We recently did an all day test at Silverstone with drivers Leo Mansell and Roman Rusinov instructed to push hard, and had no problems whatsoever.

"We greatly enjoyed our experience of the British GT Championship and would love to bring the Gallardo back to the series. The changes to the series for 2010 should provide the same quality of racing that we experienced before, and potentially see us very competitive in such a strong championship. If we can get on board the level of driver that we are looking for - then we will be in the thick of the action next season."

Team Modena introduced the crowd-pleasing Lamborghini Gallardo to the British GT series in June 2007, recording the first podium finish for the model later that season. With the unrivalled experience of sister organisation Lamborghini Wycombe on tap to provide technical support for the Italian supercars, the team were uniquely placed to successfully address the technical issues that faced the car on its UK GT debut.

The British GT championship is the UK's leading sportscar series and the 2010 schedule should see it visit all the country's leading circuits, as well as an additional overseas event. The races are featured on Channel 4 for terrestrial TV, as well as further coverage on Motors TV across Europe.
