After an instructive Sprint Cup opening round in Misano, Vincent Abril extends his Italian stay and heads to Monza for the Endurance Cup race. On the legendary transalpine track, the Bentley driver expects to charge back to the front of the field in his Team M-Sport Bentley Continental GT3.

Vincent, in a few days, you will race on a track that bears a special meaning to you?

Yes, I grew up dreaming of Monza. I came here for the first time last year and racing on such a legendary circuit is always a special moment. Besides, this is one of my favourite tracks, it's very fast, with technical aspects, heavy braking zones, then long curves and many passing opportunities which provide spectacular racing for the Tifosi. I'm eager to feel the adrenaline rush in the second Lesmo and the Parabolica but first we will need the perfect car balance.

Indeed, even if you were not satisfied with the results, you left Misano with crucial data regarding the setup of your Continental GT3?

Absolutely! It was rather frustrating to be that far back in the field but it may have been a blessing in disguise as it boosted our motivation to work on the car setup. There's no doubt that we lacked speed in Misano but we're starting to understand why and we're going in the right direction to raise the level next week-end in Monza. I'm sure we will find the right balance for our Bentley, I have a total faith in the M-Sport team.

Moreover, you will be joined by Guy Smith, an experienced driver, this week-end. This should be another advantage in your quest for performance.

Not only is there a great team chemistry between us, but we also make a very consistent trio on the track. This is a decisive advantage in endurance racing. We all give the same feedback information when we step out of the car, which speeds up the process of improving the setups. Steve and Guy are like older brothers to me, they never hesitate to share their experience, regarding their race approach or their career. As a young professional driver, I'm lucky I can learn so much from them and now I hope we will be able to make the best of it on the track as soon as possible.
