DTM champion Gary Paffett will make his GT debut in this month's Spa 24 Hours, joining the HTP Motorsport Mercedes squad for the Belgian endurance classic.

Paffett will share the #86 Mercedes-AMG GT3, one of four factory-backed entries, with fellow DTM driver Maxi Gotz and endurance racing stalwart Thomas Jager.

It will be the first non-DTM race that the 2005 champion has contested since he first joined the German tin-top series in 2004.

"I am looking forward to my debut in GT racing, and in such a classic race, no less," said Paffett.

"The Spa 24-hour race is one of the undisputed highlights in GT racing and a fantastic challenge for every racing driver.

"I have already been able to test the Mercedes-AMG GT3 and I felt at ease straight away. Now, I am eager to find out what it will be like in the race."

HTP's other works entry, the #84 car, will be fielded by usual Blancpain Endurance trio Dominik Baumann, Maxi Buhk and Jazeman Jaafar, who sit second in the standings having taken victory at Silverstone this season.

Elsewhere, Nurburgring 24 Hours winners Maro Engel and Bernd Schneider are joined by Yelmer Buurman in the #00 Black Falcon entry, while Mercedes DTM reserve Felix Rosenqvist will be partnered by Renger van der Zande and Tristan Vautier in the remaining factory-backed car, the #88 AKKA ASP entry.
