The calendar for the 2000 FIA GT Championship will be presented to the FIA Motor Sport World Council to be held on Wednesday, October 6th.

The calendar for the new millennium will be concentrated on Europe with ten events held in ten different countries. The competitors will visit Spain, Portugal, Italy, Great Britain, Hungary, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic and France. The season will start at the end of March and finish at the end of October.

The reason behind this early publication of the official and final 2000 calendar is to convince the many teams, drivers and partners who are looking with interest at the prospects of the FIA GT Championship in 2000.

A complete presentation book of the 2000 FIA GT Championship will be sent out to all parties involved by the end of October. It will present in detail the calendar, the teams and cars involved in next year's Championship as well as the TV schedule. It will also give an outline of the technical regulations for which no major changes are foreseen. The FIA technical department will present technical regulations to the next GT Commission in order to accommodate cars such as the Porsche 996 GT3R and the Ferrari 360 Modena.

Following this group of measures, the organisation is confident that 30 to 35 cars will line up for the start of the 2000 season.
