Andrea Piccini was third on the podium for the Swedish round of the FIA GT Championship on the Anderstorp track. Thanks to this result, the Tuscan driver summed up 6 points and gets 37 points in total which placed him not far behind the Bobbi /Biaggi team who retired during this race.

Just like the 24 hours of Spa, Piccini shared his car with the Belgium driver David Sterckx who competed during the second hour of the race.

Andrea Piccini
Right from the start on Friday with the free practice session, we proved to be extremely competitive on this track. During the qualifications, I conquered the fourth best time but the collision between a Lister and Matteo Bobbi's Ferrari caused a big mess at the first turn. To avoid getting into an accident along with them, I had to slow down, so much so that I was overtaken by some of my adversaries. In particular, I had to work hard to overtake a Viper who was slow on the assorted features on the track but was fast on the straights. Moreover, a collision with a Saleen , ruined the front left part of the car. My team-mate David raced well during the second hour and maintained the third place.

During the third hour of the race, while I was trying to catch up to the Konrad/ Lechner Jr/ Selier's Saleen, I had a problem with the gears and was left without the third gear. At that point, I decided not to force the car and to conquer my fourth podium of the season.
