THIRD POLE FOR RUSSIAN AGE RACING - FIRST WIN ON THE CARDS

The Russian Age Racing Aston Martin DBR9 of Christophe Bouchut and Antonio Garcia set pole position time for the third successive race, and the Cirtek- run team is now aiming to convert the achievement into its first race win of the year. Bouchut set a time of one minute, 54.184s to edge out the championship leaders Andrea Bertolini and Karl Wendlinger, who drive for Maserati, by 0.112s.

The Frenchman set his time in the cooler second qualifying, which ran through dusk, and he took full advantage of the cooler temperatures. "I am flying!" he said. "I am very happy, for sure. Three pole position times in a row is good; the Aston Martin is very quick. I was very impressed with its lap time in the first qualifying and I was just dreaming of a better lap time tonight. The combination of car and driver will be the thing that makes for a good result. It will be our last opportunity to try to get a victory and we really want to win."

Alexey Vasiliev set 12th fastest time in the Care Racing-supplied Ferrari 550 Maranello that has been the workhorse of the team for the entire season. The Russian set a time of 1m58.047s in the car he shares with Nikolay Fomenko.

"I am happy," reported Vasiliev. "The car is much better and our team made a special set-up for the race. Our times are much better and closer to the others. This set-up is, we hope, better for the race than qualifying and we will check tomorrow in warm-up with full tanks. I think we have a very well balanced car."

Fomenko did not drive in the qualifying session, but will take his turn behind the wheel of the Ferrari during the three hour, or 500km, race which takes place tomorrow, Friday November 25.
