RUSSIAN AGE RACING DRIVERS FACE TOUGH CHALLENGE AT BRNO

The Russian Age Racing Ferrari 550 Maranello, supplied by Care Racing and run by Cirtek Motorsport, will line up in ninth place on the grid for tomorrow's fifth round of the FIA GT Championship at Brno, in the Czech Republic.

Drivers Christophe Bouchut, Nikolay Fomenko and Alexey Vasiliev missed some valuable track time at the start of practice on Friday morning after the Ferrari was given a major overhaul following its successful run at Le Mans.

Arriving at Brno on Tuesday afternoon, the Russian Age Racing Ferrari has had the Le Mans qualifying V12 engine installed, the gearbox has been rebuilt, a larger rear wing and new splitter installed to take advantage of the FIA regulations, and all the major components have been checked over.

"We lost some running on Friday morning and you never get that back," says team manager Hans Muhlbauer, echoed by Fomenko. "We have not had enough time after Le Mans, and there are problems with the set-up," says the Russian. "Oversteer is troubling us, but the car was better in the afternoon session."

The heat-wave continues with temperatures of 27-degrees tempered by a cool breeze, which is no help to the drivers. However rain is forecast for this evening, and a lowering of temperatures, which could work to the advantage of the Russian Age Racing team, whichruns on Michelin tyres.

The driveshafts and carbon brakes have been left in place on the Ferrari after Le Mans, where the Cirtek team recorded its ninth consecutive 24-hour finish, this time fifth in the GT1 category.

The three-hour, 500km race takes place tomorrow, Sunday 26 June.
