Sports car pilot Stefan Mucke in bad luck at the GT1 World Championship at Czech Brno - Position eleven on Saturday, breakdown on Sunday
Berlin/Brno (rol/ot) That hasn't been after German sports car pilot Stefan Mucke's fancy: Instead of the hoped for points at the third event of the FIA GT1 World Championship the one hour Championship race on Sunday ended with a breakdown for the Aston Martin works driver from Berlin. It has been the season runs five and six on the weekend (22nd /23rd of May) at Czech Brno. At the also one hour Qualifying race on Saturday the 28 year old, which is driving an Aston Martin DBR9 together with his Dane team colleague Christoffer Nygaard for the Team Young Driver AMR (Paderborn/Copenhagen), allocated position eleven.
"Of course it is aggravating if you have a fast car but in the end you get nothing out of it. But that's simply motorsport, nobody is certain of technical errors", told Stefan Mucke, which was driving better lap times at the second half of the race on Saturday than his combatants on the top of the field. The following day he was third at the Warm up and drove the fastest lap time at the Championship Race until the car had to be stabled at the drivers change half time of the race because of a problem with the hub of the wheel. The same problem already appeared at the drive to the starting grid on Sunday, so that the Berlin had to catch the race out of the pit lane behind the whole field.
"However I could follow up quickly to the driver's field then and leave some cars behind me as well. During that I had a few great overtaking maneuvers", told the Berlin, which was driving up to position twelve already. "There has been the chance to be between the top five, but then at the driver's change there has been the technical problem". The winners of the race have been Thomas Mutsch and Romain Grosjean (Germany/Switzerland) in the Ford GT, which could enlarge their captaincy in the overall standings.
The next adoption for Stefan Mucke is the famous 24 hour race of Le Mans (France) on 12th and 13th of June in the closed LMP1 sports car prototype from Aston Martin. He will share his cockpit with his works driver colleagues Adrian Fernandez (Mexico) and Harold Primat (Switzerland). Together with these two drivers Sfetan Mucke has been on position two this season at the LMS prelude at the eight hour race of Le Castellet (11th of April) as well as on position three at the 12 hour race of Sebring/USA (21st of March) in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). "I am really looking forward to Le Mans and I hope to finish this race being the best Benzine car again", tells the Berlin prospective.
