Estoril: Andrea Piccini preview

On Sunday October 5th, the second last race of the FIA GT Championship will take place on the Estoril race track. It was just on this very same track that Andrea Piccini along side his team-mate Deletraz , won the race last season with Scuderia Italia's Ferrari 550.Last year, Piccini was ahead of Hezemans/ Kumpens `s Chrysler Viper and Campbell-Walter / Sprinter's Lister, respectively. This year, Andrea Piccini will face the 4,182 metres of the circuit with the Lister Cars and will be teamed up with David Sterckx who has never competed on this track before.

"I believe that the Estoril track is ideal for the Lister. Last year I won with a Ferrari on this circuit that throughout the race had dried up. This year, I believe to have every thing in order to have a race. The track is really nice and rather technical with a mix of fast and slow corners. My team mate David Sterckx has never driven here and so I'll give him more time during the free practice session so he can gain more confidence with the track. The Scuderia Italia's Ferrari's are really strong this year. The fact that they have already won the Constructor's Title two races before the end of the season proves this.

"If I hadn't had unfortunate mishaps (for example: problems with my radiator due to a rock that forced me to retire during the last race), I could have still been able to fight for the championship. Anyhow, one can't compete with ifs and buts in mind. Right now I'm just thinking about Estoril and getting a good result."
