EU3: Bucharest: Martini Callaway Racing race one notes

Martini Callaway Racing ends wild Race 1 into the top-10 Bucharest, May 19, 2007

Martini Callaway Racing ended up with two top-10 finishes the first FIA GT Race at Bucharest.

The 3.1-Km street track, modeled by Hermann Tilke around the house of the Romanian Parliament, proved to be incredibly difficult to handle for everyone. After the start on yellow conditions, all the cars encountered strategic problems due to an early crash involving a Porsche.

Then, a wild dog entered the racetrack, and, finally, an heavy rainfall started to drop. While all cars cruised to the pits for a tire change, the Ferrari 430 driven by Stephane Daoudi stayed out on slicks, and was suddenly helped by a huge crash between Seiler and Makowiecki. The following caution virtually ended the race.

Thanks to the particular situations, the two Martini Callaway Racing Corvettes gained several positions, bringing Luca Pirri and Juergen Von Gartzen in 6th and Klaus Ludwig and Uli Berberich Martini in 10th place.
