Tech 9 Motorsport - Porsche European Champions

A very wet Mugello race circuit in Italy provided the perfect platform for Liverpool (UK) based Tech 9 Motorsport, to secure two race wins against very strong competition in the FIA GT3 European GT Championship, with a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup. 10 races over the season in the UK, Germany, Belgium, France and Italy have seen fantastic racing decide the outcome of the Championship.

Tech 9 Porsche drivers Sean Edwards and Phil Keen scored a fantastic double victory over the weekend 16th/17th September, this ensured that the overall Championship for drivers was secured by Sean Edwards and a memorable victory for the Porsche Marque against Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Chrysler, General Motors, Maserati and Ascari.

The overall Team Championship was also secured by Tech 9 after strong final performances from the sister car of Paul Van Splunteren and Andy Purdie with two seventh place finishes, ensured that the Liverpool team emerged top of the table amongst the best of European race teams.

To complete a clean sweep of titles Tech 9 also won the Porsche Manufacturers Championship that was contested between the three Porsche teams that were registered in the Championship.

Team owner Phil Hindley described the events ' An incredible finish to the season with our victories in Italy. The drivers skill and achievement in the atrocious wet conditions was admirable, as was the spirit of our team to emerge victorious against the best teams and drivers in Europe. This is our fourth Championship title in a row, with our National Championship titles in British GT for the last three seasons, now topped with an International Championship win is a fantastic achievement for our team, and all the crew deservedly are thrilled to be part of this memorable success. The whole season has been a great experience, to emerge victorious with the Porsche marque that is very close to our hearts, gives us immense pride to consider our team amongst others that have contributed to Historical International Motorsport success with the Porsche brand.'
