Silver For Erik Janis And Jirik

After having bad luck in the Saturday race, the Czech duo Erik Janis- Jaromir Jirik made it up in the FIA GT3 event Sunday. The drivers working for Austrian s-berg racing brought their Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 in second place in Silverstone.

The line-up was packed with forty cars of renowned makes such as Ascari KZ1R, Aston Martin DBRS9, Corvette Z06, Dodge Viper Competition Coupe, Ferrari 430 Challenge GT3, Ford GT, Ford Mustang FR500 GT, Jaguar XKR GT3, Lamborghini Gallardo, Morgan Aero 8 and Porsche 997 GT3 Cup. Jaromir Jirik started from 10th position, one of the rivals having been disqualified.

In about middle of the one-hour race, the 19-year-old Erik Janis took hold of the wheel. Jirik dropped two positions right after the start but managed to drive at 8th place before the swap. In the second part of the race, Erik Janis showed the Gallardo GT3's potential, fought his way through to the second place and wasn't far from the lead.

Erik Janis: "I'm very satisfied, after the bad luck yesterday when we lost the second position, this is a compensation. After the changeover, we were in 8th place and I managed to get all the way to the second. I wish I'd had one or two laps more to overtake Vannelet-Moser's Ferrari. The car worked perfectly and I could drive flat out. I'd like to thank the team and sponsors; our result belongs to them as well."
