PIT NOTES FOR SUNDAY, SEPT. 26

FIA GT CHAMPIONSHIP

JOAO BARBOSA (No. 39 Lauda Air Mosler Intruder) -- At the beginning of the race our car was running very, very good. I could keep the pace of the (Oreca) Viper No. 2. I could have gone faster, but at that stage of the race I wanted to save the car. But then I lost the clutch, and I went wide in turn two and lost third place. From then on, I was fighting with the gearbox, fighting with the car. I couldn't get the correct gears, and I was overheating the tires. I stopped for refueling when the fuel light came on, and I knew there was some kind of problem, because it shouldn't have needed refueling that early in the race. When I restarted the car, it started burning, and I had to get out. We haven't determined how badly the fire damaged the car.

LARRY SCHUMACHER (#17 Schumacher Racing Porsche 911 GT2) -- We are very happy to win our class. We wound up seventh overall in the FIA event. We thought first time out and first time at this track and consider it's rained all the time except for race time. We think we did fairly well and are very happy about that. I love the track and hope to come back again some time.

CORT WAGNER (#17 Schumacher Racing Porsche 911 GT2) -- It was a good race. I think the BMWs and Porsche would be assured second and third if the Intruder did not break. We got lucky and it broke. For me it was a battle at the end. I know one of the M3's was pretty much on the pace and the other had a little trouble. As a racer regardless you come out here and try to finish first overall, no matter what you are doing. I know these guys were trying to finish as high as they could, even within the FIA championship. I didn't look at the race between just the Americans in GT, but with the Europeans as well. Finishing seventh is fine. It's not the podium for FIA, but I think everybody is happy and we are really happy the FIA included us.

ANDY PILGRIM (#12 Bell Motorsports BMW M3 GT3) -- Excellent race. Obviously second to Schumacher's GT2 Turbos. We really feel we did pretty well. Anytime you finish right behind Schumacher you are doing pretty good, especially in a BMW M3. The car was excellent all day. At the beginning we moved up as high as sixth overall with the car. Then Ron (Johnson) and Scott (Neuman) did a good job in the end just to bring it home. It's a very, very hot car. It was a good day and I always seem to get on the podium here. I am really happy.
