Past week-end Jos Menten succeeded in finishing his very first 24 Hours of Le Mans. The 'Flying Dutchman' defended the British honours behind the wheel of Team Modena's Aston Martin DBR9. Menten and his team mates Fittipaldi and Garcia made a promising start, but a broken damper and an altercation with an LMP2-proto knocked them back in the running order.
Only two days after his adventure at the Sarthe, Jos Menten is looking forward to the fourth round of the FIA GT Championship. He'll get back behind the wheel of the Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT #8. Together with team mate Peter Kox, Jos Menten wants to grab his first championship points of 2007. "It will be a matter of adapting. The biggest difference between the Aston and the Lamborghini is the braking system. In the Aston you brake with your left foot, in the Lambo with your right foot. So I'll have to get used to that in the first free practice", says the driver from Haelen. "I'm looking forward to Monza. Up until now we haven't scored points for the championship. We hope to turn the tide. The race in Italy must bring a change of luck."
The FIA GT Championship is heading to the Autodromo di Monza for the seventh time. In the middle of a magnificent park, 30 GT1 and GT2-cars will battle for the major honours: "Monza is a very special track. It is situated in a lovely park. De long straights offer the driver a chance to rest, but you have to stay focussed every single second. Missing a braking point can have disastrous consequences. During the FIA GT test days I had the chance to get familiar with the track. It's really challenging. The combination of speed and precision separates the men from the boys. We hope to grab our first championship points on Sunday."
