LAMBORGHINI BRINGS THE BULLS TO SPANISH GT1 FIGHT
The eight Lamborghini drivers competing in the FIA GT1 World Championship will have their first taste of the brand new Navarra circuit in Spain, when the V12 engines of the Lamborghini Murcielago 670 R-SV race cars rev up for round eight on 23-24 October 2010.
Lamborghini-equipped Reiter Engineering has been on strong form, claiming more points at the last three race weekends than any other team in the series. The German outfit is currently second in the Teams' World Championship on 109 points with a victory and a second-place finish to date. Three weeks after securing the Drivers' Championship title in the ADAC GT Masters in a Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4, Peter Kox will return behind the wheel of a Murcielago to continue his GT1 assault with team-mate and 2009 FIA GT3 European Champion Christopher Haase, racing in the #24 entry.
Former Formula One driver and ex-FIA GT champion Ricardo Zonta will be back to GT1 action in Navarra after taking some time off to race with Lamborghini in the Brazilian GT championship. He will compete alongside his 24-year-old team-mate Frank Kechele in the #25 Lamborghini Murcielago 670 R-SV.
All-Inkl.com Muennich Motorsport will bring its regular driver line-up for round eight, with Christophe Bouchut and Marc Basseng taking on the #37 Lamborghini, while Nicky Pastorelli and Dominik Schwager will race in the #38 Murcielago.
"Reiter Engineering has shown great progress in the GT1 class, outscoring all other teams in the last few races," said Automobili Lamborghini Director of Brand and Design Manfred Fitzgerald. "Our great form in the FIA GT1 World Championship is a highlight of a vastly successful 2010 campaign for Lamborghini, which now also includes the Drivers' Championship title in the ADAC GT Masters series. The brand new Navarra circuit is a bit of an unknown quantity as none of our drivers have raced there before, but the spirit of Lamborghini means that we are never fazed by new challenges."
Qualifying for round eight will kick off at 16:45 (CET) on Saturday 23 October, with the Qualifying Race beginning at 10:00 (CET) on Sunday 24 October, followed by the Championship Race at 16:00 (CET).
