LAMBORGHINI GEARS UP FOR PORTUGUESE GT1 CHALLENGE

Following a victory and a second-place finish in the last two races, the four-car FIA GT1 World Championship Lamborghini line-up is on strong form as the series heads to Portimao, Portugal, on 17-19 September 2010.

German driver Frank Kechele, winner of the GT1 race at the demanding Spa-Francorchamps circuit, will guide the #25 Reiter Engineering Lamborghini Murcielago 670 R-SV around the sunny Algarve circuit. The 24-year-old rising star will be partnered by Jos Menten, while his regular team-mate and former Formula One driver Ricardo Zonta is in Brazil, competing for Lamborghini in his home country. Menten contested the Silverstone round alongside Kechele, where the duo finished third in the Championship Race.

ADAC GT Masters standings leader Peter Kox and team-mate, current FIA GT3 European Champion Christopher Haase, will compete in the #24 Reiter Engineering Lamborghini. Coming off the back of their first GT1 podium finish at the world-renowned Nuerburgring circuit two weeks ago, the duo are hoping to record another strong finish this weekend.

The All-Inkl.com Muennich Motorsport team will take on the Portuguese track in the white, red and black Lamborghini Murcielago GT1 cars, with Christophe Bouchut returning to the series to partner Marc Basseng in the 600 hp #37 Lamborghini, while Nicky Pastorelli and Dominik Schwager will race the #38 entry.

"I am optimistic as the car is very fast and the team is improving race by race," said Reiter Engineering Team Principal Hans Reiter. "We regularly have two or three Lamborghini cars in the top five in qualifying; we just need to equal these results in the races. The team is working hard: last weekend we did set-up and aero tests, and we have managed to bring down the pit-stop times from 30 to around 24 seconds since the beginning of the season. Algarve is a fantastic circuit and if the weather is hot, it should suit us well."
