Maserati on top in shortened Pre-Qualifying
Torrential rain before the start meant a shortened Pre-Qualifying in San Luis. The session eventually began 1 hour 50 minutes late after a storm complete with hail stones swept across the Potrero de ls Funes circuit.
The Vitaphone Maserati No.2 of Miguel Ramos and Enrique Bernoldi was the quickest of the 19 cars that ventured out on track with standing water on several parts of the circuit as the session started.
It was the first time the teams fitted new tyres though it was largely academic given that there were several wet areas on the circuit which eventually dried.
The times were a lot slower than the earlier Free Practice session. Ramos set a time of 2:21.198 at the end of the session, which was 1.245s faster than Markus Palttala in the Marc VDS Ford GT No.41.
Third fastest was the Triple H Maserati No.33 of Alex Muller and Altfrid Heger in 2:24.139.
Qualifying is due to start at its scheduled time of 17:15 (20:15 UK / 21:15 EUR). Watch it live on GT1TV.
