Second FIA GT Points Finish for RML

RML added to its championship points tally in the second round of the FIA GT Championship at Valencia yesterday. The No7 Saleen of Mike Newton and Tommy Erdos finished in sixth place despite dropping back to twelfth after incorrectly receiving a drive through penalty.

Having started from the third row of the grid Tommy and Mike were forced back to twelfth position after receiving a drive through penalty, which was in fact meant for the No8 Saleen. In the final stint Tommy was one of the fastest drivers on the circuit and managed to climb back up to fifth place, only to lose a position on the final lap.

Tommy commented " It was a good fight with Jamie Campbell-Walter at the end. We knew that we were low on fuel, so by the time I got to Jamie I knew how many laps there were to the end, and we were trying to save fuel as well as fight for position. Then I got past Jamie, and I was trying to catch up with the Ferrari in front. My fuel light had already been on for two laps. I was still managing to catch the car in front despite conserving fuel, but it was just one lap too many. It was a bit frustrating at the end, but at least we got a result and points out of it."

Miguel Ramos and Chris Goodwin in the No8 car qualified in 11th position. Miguel drove the first stint but was forced to pit early to resolve a brake problem. Their luck then worsened as they were issued with a drive through penalty, and a stop/go penalty. With these frustrating issues behind them both drivers lapped competitively for the remainder of the race bringing the car home in 14th place.

Chris Goodwin commented 'Although it was a rather frustrating weekend we have definitely made progress with the car since Monza. We have the potential to be very competitive which our lap times prove and we are hopeful of a much better result at Magny-Cours'.
