Markham, Ontario, Canada – The Multimatic Motorsports/Miller Racing team, based in Markham, Ontario, Canada, will be back in action this weekend, June 6 and 7, at Kansas Speedway for Round 5 of the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC).

Following the race at Connecticut’s Lime Rock Park on May 24, repairs have been made to the No. 158 Ford Mustang Boss 302R shared by Ian James and Billy Johnson. The sister No. 15, co-driven by Scott Maxwell and Jade Buford, will revert to the blue Boss 302R that was damaged extensively at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on May 3, while the back-up Boss, the very first Boss 302R built that is affectionately known as “Ol’ Yaller,” will return to museum duty.

With the improvement in performance noted at Lime Rock, thanks to IMSA’s adjustment to the Balance of Performance (BOP) among the various makes and models, the team is looking forward to a competitive outing at Kansas, one hopefully devoid of drama – and post-race repairs – for both cars.

“Kansas should suit the Boss 302R Mustang with its high-speed corners,” said James. “The 158 crew is looking to bounce back after a disappointing last race, and we’re full of confidence heading to Kansas.”

“After two disappointing races in a row, we’re looking for better fortune at Kansas,” said Johnson. “Scott and Jade seemed to get their luck back somewhat at Lime Rock, so now it’s time for Ian and I to follow suit.”

“Hopefully we can build on the momentum from Lime Rock and get another strong result for the No. 15 Boss 302R,” said Maxwell. “I’m not a big fan of ‘rovals,’ so I’m going to let Jade do his ‘Talladega Nights’ impression and Go Fast! With a bit of luck, the weather will cooperate and the Multimatic Motorsports/Miller Racing team can get top-five results for both cars!”

“I’m looking forward to Kansas,” said Buford. “Hopefully it suits our car better than Lime Rock, and we can bring home another positive result.”

The track at Kansas Speedway is what is referred to in the industry as a “roval,” or a road course built into an oval speedway circuit. The six-turn track is 2.37 miles in length, and incorporates a road-course section that is entered in Turn 1 of the NASCAR oval, runs through the infield and rejoins the oval track in NASCAR Turn 2.

The action gets underway on Friday afternoon, with an hour-long practice for the CTSCC cars at 3:45 pm ET. A second hour-long practice will take place at 7:30 pm ET, followed by a 15-minute qualifying session for the Grand Sports class at 10:40 pm ET. The 2.5-hour race will take place on Saturday evening, with the green flag scheduled for 7:15 pm ET.

Entering Round 5 of the championship, Maxwell and Buford are tied for fourth place in the driver championship standings, while James is listed in a three-way tie for 14th with Johnson in 17th. In the teams championship, the No. 15 is ranked fifth and the No. 158 15th.

The race from Kansas Speedway will not be broadcast on television. Live timing and scoring will be available at www.IMSA.com. IMSA offers mobile apps for both iPhone and Android platforms, available at Google Play and the App Store, respectively, which also provide live timing and scoring among other features.
