Elkhart Lake, Wis. – 8 August 2014 – Luis Bacardi’s Rum Bum Racing will take the green flag for Saturday’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America from eighth on the grid after Nick Longhi set a fast lap time of 2:23.381-seconds in the No. 13 Rum Bum Racing Porsche on Friday.

The 2.5-hour race at the historic track marks Round 9 of the 2014 IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Championship as the 2012 & 2013 Championship winning team looks to build momentum for their title defense on ‘home ground.’

The car was really consistent, all the way through the run and I think that’s really encouraging for the race

Nick Longhi

Longhi and Plumb have a strong record of success at the track and have never finished off of the Road America podium. Having won the 2012 & 2013 Road America events – the team is going for three in a row on Saturday. It’s the home race for Jennifer Bacardi so a big group of Rum Bum fans, family, and friends will be cheering on the No. 13 Porsche in Saturday’s race.

The 15-minute session saw Longhi able take seven laps around the 4-mile classic road course and delivered his fastest flying lap on the fifth circuit of the track.

“The car was really consistent, all the way through the run and I think that’s really encouraging for the race tomorrow,” said Longhi, who will share the car with co-driver Matt Plumb. “We are making the best of what we have with this package, and I think this puts us in striking distance.

This is home ground for this team because Jennifer (Bacardi) is from here and there is always an awesome Rum Bum fan club for this race. Not least of whom is Jackie Bahr, who is a super fan of this team and is a huge motivation for all of us with the fight she is waging. Hopefully we can bring her and everyone else another big result here tomorrow. Win or lose we are doing this for our super fan Jackie!”

Saturday’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase begins at 12:15 PM Central Time.
