Watkins Glen, N.Y. – Rum Bum Racing will start Saturday’s Continental Tire 150 at the Glen from seventh on the grid after driver Nick Longhi posted a fast lap time of 2:02.283 seconds in qualifying in the No. 13 Rum Bum Racing Porsche on Friday at Watkins Glen International.

With two consecutive podium finishes at the track including a win in 2012, the IMSA championship-defending team will look to convert the qualifying effort into a return trip to the podium on Saturday.

Longhi will open the race from behind the wheel and then turn the car over to Matt Plumb to take to the finish. The duo enter the race weekend with the points-paying momentum of a victory at Lime Rock Park and then a run to fourth place at Kansas Speedway in the two most recent rounds.

After posting times in the first two sessions that had the team deep in the timing sheets, the team rallied to make progress ahead of the qualifying session.

“The car was much more consistent in qualifying,” said Longhi, who resides just three hours away from Watkins Glen in Nyack, New York. “We’ve been working through a few issues and the team has responded well. We are a little behind this weekend as we went down a path with the car that didn’t go anywhere. But, typical Rum Bum Racing, we tried something entirely new for qualifying and it was much better. We don’t have the speed of all the big V-8s ahead of us but we will just try to execute as well as we can tomorrow. I love being here at the Glen and everyone is looking forward to tomorrow.”
