Tatum family celebrates 2006 championship, readies for 2007 Synergy program

ALTON, Va. (December 20, 2006) -- The Tatum family knows quite a bit about winning racing championships. Earlier this year, driver Nathan Swartzbaugh won the 2006 IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge championship with Jerry (J.T.) Tatum as his crew chief. His son, Shawn Tatum, was nipping at dad's heels as crew chief of Mark Weber's Porsche, which finish third in the point standings. Now, the Tatum family turns its focus to 2007, as it hopes to bring its success in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge to Synergy Racing's new Utah-based program.

Synergy Racing announced in October it will open a racing facility at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah that will serve as the base of operations for the team's new IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge program. The Tatum family, who has worked with Synergy Racing for seven years and helped the team earn eight championships, will be an integral part of the team's new Utah-based program. J.T. and Shawn will serve as crew chiefs, while wife and mother Patsy continues her duties with the team coordinating drivers' needs at the track.

"The Tatum family is dedicated to success on the racetrack," said Cole Scrogham, Synergy Racing co-owner. "They've been a wonderful asset to our team over the past seven years, and I'm confident our IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge program will be a tremendous success with them at them helm."

"We are all looking forward to the 2007 IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge season with Synergy Racing and the opening of the new facility at Miller Motorsports Park," said J.T. Tatum. "We hope to continue Synergy's championship-winning history in this new program."

Synergy Racing's new facility at Miller Motorsports Park is schedule to open in March 2007.
