JONATHAN GORING AND TOM DREWER DRIVE AWAY AT MILLER MOTORSPORTS PARK

TOOELE, Utah May 18 -- Jonathan Goring, Torrington, Conn., drove away with the Lites One win at Miller Motorsports Park Sunday morning. Following Goring in second place overall was Lites Two winner Tom Drewer, Westbourne Park, Australia.

Drewer started fifth, but moved up to third place by the end of lap one in his West WR1000.

"We just showed what the West tunnel floors can do today," Drewer said. "This track really allows us to use the tunnel to our advantage. It was fantastic to be mixing it up front with all of the L1 drivers."

At the start of the race Goring led the field of 26 cars into turn one. There was contact between Goring and third place Ricky Taylor before Taylor passed Goring for the lead in turn four. Taylor led six laps before having brake troubles that put him out of the race.

"Going into turn one I gave the pedal a couple of pumps and it came back," Taylor explained. "Then going into the hairpin, it just went to the floor."

Matt and Lucas Downs, two of three brothers racing in the IMSA Lites by Hankook Series, finished second and third in Lites One. Antonio Downs moved from tenth to sixth while chasing down his brothers.

KC Racing teammates Chris Funk and Kelly Toombs had another great battle today swapping positions seven times. Funk crossed the finish line first, less than a tenth of a second ahead of Toombs.

The IMSA Lites presented by Hankook Series gives drivers the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of the top prototype and GT endurance racing series in the world, the American LeMans Series. Rounds five and six of the IMSA Lites series will take place at the American LeMans Northeast Grand Prix July 11-12 at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Conn.
