PTG BMW M3s FINISH 1-2 TO COMPLETE 'DOUBLE-DOUBLE' The #10 and #6 Yokohama/Fina BMW M3s charged to a 1-2 finish at today's Superflo 12 Hours of Sebring endurance race to successfully defend their GT-3 class title here and complete a milestone set of victories at the year's opening two events - the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring - for two consecutive years. Bill Auberlen and Boris Said teamed for the GT-3 victory in the #10 M3 four door, completing 295 laps of the legendary 3.75-mile road course and finishing 11th overall. They started from the pole and were never challenged. Peter Cunningham, Ross Bentley and Mark Simo shared the runner-up finish in the #6 M3 two door, two laps off the pace of their teammates and good for 12th place overall.

It was the 15th win in the last 17 events for a BMW M3.

The other two BMW M3s that started the race - the #1 Yokohama/Fina customer car of Andy Petery Craig Carter and Giovanna Amati, and the #54 Massari & Bell privateer entry, retired early. Clutch and transmission problems forced the #1 M3 out of the race during the eighth hour, and a ruptured oil line on course led the #54 M3s motor to seize on course during the sixth hour.

RICHARD BREKUS, manager of product planning, BMW North America: "It's really quite an achievement to win at Daytona and Sebring back-to-back. To win like that two years in a row is a phenomenal way to cap it off. Finishing 1-2 at Sebring shows stamina and durability because this truly is an endurance test. We're really looking forward to the rest of the season. We started off with a win in the first USRRC event (Daytona), and now a win in the first Professional Sports Car event. Basically, we could have a shot at two different championships in the same season."

BILL AUBERLEN, #10 Yokohama/Fina BMW M3 four door: "We had two cars that were unbelievable. Not one problem from beginning to end. It's a situation for me where I could drive my stint, put Boris (Said) in the car, and go eat or go play and then come back to a car I know would be as good as it was when I handed it off. What can I say. Everyone performed just perfectly."

BORIS SAID, #10 Yokohama/Fina BMW M3 four door: "This is a great part-time job. Today was a testament to all the hard work PTG put into this program over the last four years. To win two tough races like Daytona and Sebring, without having a single problem in either one, is pretty amazing. And it wasn't like we didn't work these cars hard. We put them to the test and they passed with flying colors."

ROSS BENTLEY, #6 Yokohama/Fina BMW M3 two door: "It was a reasonably easy race. We weren't going to catch Bill and Boris at the end, but we wanted to stay as close as we could so we would be in position to take advantage if they had any problems. But it's mind-boggling that these cars just keep going and going the way we put them through the paces. It takes a team effort, that's for sure, and the team is running on all cylinders."
