Darryl O’young back at the 24 Hours of Daytona
Darryl will be part of a five-driver line-up with German team Muehlner Motorsports America.

It will be the 5th attempt for Hong Kong driver Darryl O’Young at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, which will be held at the Daytona International Speedway from January 22nd to 25th. 2013 saw O’Young finish a personal best 2nd place in class, a result he is hoping to improve on this weekend. As in the past, O’Young will again be driving in a Porsche 911 GT3, this time in the newest 991 GT3 America in the GT Daytona class.
Darryl will be part of a five-driver line-up with German team Muehlner Motorsports America, whom has a long history in endurance racing with Porsche. Drivers include Porsche Junior Conner De Phillipi, Matteo Beretta, Nikolaus Mayr-Melnhof, and Marc Basseng, whom O’Young drove with to victory in 2011 at the Bathurst 12 Hour in Australia.

“I am delighted to return to the 24 Hours of Daytona. This is the biggest endurance race here in America so it’s important for me to be here and try to fight for victory,” commented O’Young. “This is a challenging race and coming so close in 2013 has only further motivated me to return stronger. We will give it our 100%, and with 19 GT cars in our class, I expect this year to be one of the toughest.
O’Young first joined the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2010 and finished the race three times out of 4 attempts. A race known for having a high rate of attrition, the focus for the team will be to minimize mistakes.
“I’m at a stage of my career where I hope to take all my experience and help Hong Kong win at the top level of endurance racing. Races like Daytona 24 have a long history, but never has a Hong Kong or Chinese driver won here, so I really hope to change that and put our country on the map. I’m driving my best ever in the long distance races, and I hope my experience will help the team to be there at the end for the final sprint to the checkered flag.” Said O’Young.
