Hour 13: Pagenaud leading Action Express 1-2

An alarming incident caused the 15^th caution in 12 hours. Into Turn 1, the #100 BMW M6 of Lucas Luhr crashed and carried on to Turn 6, ripping off the hood and right-front wheel.

He told Motorsport.com that he wasn't sure what happened, but that it was likely "suspension-related." He detailed the incident, saying that whatever broke in the right-front, it punched up into the hood (sending it flying) and caused him to completely miss Turn 1 and make heavy contact with the outside wall of the oval. 

On the restart, Simon Pagenaud took the lead in AX Racing’s #31 Corvette DP, with the sister #5 car in second, and Lance Stroll sending the #01 Ganassi Riley-Ford in third, Marc Goossens in VisitFlorida Corvette and Rubens Barrichello in Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette.

Ed Brown pitted the No. 2 ESM Ligier-Honda and handed over to Johannes van Overbeek who rejoined in sixth.

That 15^th caution prompted a swathe of pitstops from the GT cars. Meanwhile Kevin Estre and Earl Bamber ran the #911 and #912 Porsches into the lead of GTLM pursued by the Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 488 of Alessandro Pier Guidi.  The Italian car managed to split the German cars after a 16^th caution, caused by the No. 37 SMP Racing BR01 stopping on track.

That latest restart saw Beretta’s #62 Risi Ferrari spin Antonio Garcia’s #3 Corvette, and then fall off the track by himself with a bad-handling car.

Nicolas Boulle led PC in the #52 PR1/Mathiasen Oreca, with Chris Miller (JDC-Miller) and Tomy Drissi (BAR1) in hot pursuit.

Wolf Henzler had the GTD lead in the Alex Job Racing Porsche 911, pursued by Pedro Lamy in the #98 Aston Martin Vantage and the Frikadelli Racing Porsche of Frank Stippler.
