Level 5 enters TUDOR championship Prototype Challenge class

Madison, Wis. — With the sports car racing landscape in North American continuing to evolve, Level 5 Motorsports is preparing to embrace the new TUDOR United SportsCar Championship in 2014. The four-time American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón champions are pleased to announce the submission of two entries for the Prototype Challenge class.

As part of an expansion into its new customer program, the Madison, Wisconsin-based organization plans to field a pair of brand-new ORECA FLM09 race cars in the entire 10-race TUDOR Championship, beginning with the 52nd annual Rolex 24 at Daytona on Jan. 25-26, 2014.

The PC class, featuring identical Le Mans-style prototypes, offers a competitive yet cost-effective platform that grew into one of the most popular categories in the ALMS. Level 5 and team owner/driver Scott Tucker won the inaugural championship in 2010 following a dominant season that delivered key victories in the 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans, and proved the team’s credentials in only its first year of ALMS competition.

“We’re excited to be returning to Prototype Challenge next year as it becomes part of the TUDOR Championship,” said Level 5 team manager David Stone. “Level 5 has proven that it is well capable of winning races and championships in the class and we feel that we can bring our experience, expertise and resources needed for customers to succeed in this competitive form of racing.”

Level 5 is actively evaluating customer opportunities and is currently in discussions with drivers to finalize its PC program. A high level of interest was generated last weekend at Sebring International Raceway, when the championship organization put its full arsenal of resources on display during TUDOR Championship testing at the famed Florida airfield track.

The impressive paddock set-up included Level 5’s two Honda Performance Development ARX-03b P2 cars, along with two Lola prototypes and Ferrari 458 GT3s, which are all available for customer programs. The team plans on fielding two Ferrari 458 GTD entries in addition to the prototype programs.

With more than 110 podium finishes, 99 victories, 15 driver and team championships and seven different manufacturers championships, Level 5 is regarded as one of the most successful sports car operations in the United States and is set to continue its winning ways into 2014 and beyond.

“In addition to the new direction in PC, our doors are also open for any other opportunities,” said Stone. “We’re very flexible as far as future options are concerned. Scott’s ultimate goal for Level 5 from the beginning was to build a world-class organization that could support the best sports car drivers as customers. And that’s exactly what we have done. We’re excited to move forward and are confident that the time to evolve is now.”
