Tomorrow, the closed LM P2 sport-prototype built by Onroak Automotive will lead the field of 53 cars, including no fewer than 16 prototypes, which are taking part in the legendary Rolex 24 at Daytona.
On its very first outing - in the 2014 Le Mans 24 Hours - the Ligier JS P2 entered by Thiriet by TDS Racing took pole in the LM P2 category in qualifying. The French car then went on to clinch five LM P2 pole positions on the bounce in the remaining events in the FIA Endurance World Championship with G-Drive Racing.
Last year, the Ligier JS P2 entered by the Sarthe-based OAK Racing team also set pole position on its first outing in the Tudor United SportsCar Championship in Austin.
In the nine qualifying sessions in the FIA WEC in the LM P2 category and in the Tudor USCC, the only pole position that escaped the Ligier JS P2 was at the 2014 Petit Le Mans where it suffered a mechanical problem.
