Renger van der Zande and Marc Goossens have completed a shakedown test of their Gibson-engined Riley Mk XXX.
The team tested at Carolina Motorsports Park prior to next week’s two-day IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship test at Daytona, December 13-14.
Van der Zande was announced last month as VFR’s replacement for Ryan Dalziel, who is heading to the Pirelli World Challenge. Van der Zande spent three seasons in the Prototype Challenge class racing for Starworks Motorsport, and the 30-year-old Dutchman clinched the title this year.
Another new addition for VFR in 2017 will be Michael Harvey who has joined after managing the Fall-Line Motorsports campaigns in IMSA and SCCA. Before entering the sportscar scene, he was in open-wheel racing, managing the Pacific Coast Motorsport team.
He said: “I am grateful to have had the experience that I had at Fall Line Motorsports and will miss that group but this was entirely too much of an opportunity to pass up.
“Right now is a really exciting time for IMSA, because everything is new and we are all starting from the same point – there is a lot to be learned about these new cars. With the stability and success that Troy [Flis, team owner] and the Visit Florida team have had, it is a very attractive opportunity for me.”
