Chennai National Motorcycle: Jagan leads TVS 1-2

Jagan qualified on pole position for Race 1, but slipped to third behind Rajiv Sethu and Mathana Kumar S due to a poor start

However, the race came back towards the defending champion after both Honda riders ran into trouble. Shortly after the red flag - deployed due to an oil spillage on the start-finish straight - Mathana retired with an electrical problem, while Sethu had to nurse his bike with his own set of technical issues.

As a result, Jagan was able to clear both riders to take his second victory of the season. Harry Sylvester also managed to pass Sethu to score a 1-2 finish for TVS. 

Jagan - who endured a double DNF in the previous round - is now third in the riders’ standings with 62 points, 28 adrift of championship leader Sethu.

“I am very relieved that I won today, though I was not happy with my pace,” he said. “In Friday’s practice, I did 1m57s lap and today, I was two second off that lap pace. I had some issues with the bike, but I think I will not tinker with it for tomorrow’s second race.”

Dinesh ends Menon’s Super Sport 300-400cc winning spree.

In the Super Sport 300-400cc category, Dinesh Kumar claimed top honours for the newly-formed Team Alisha Abdullah, bringing an end to Amarnath Menon’s four-race winning streak.

Menon ran second until he crashed out on the final lap while chasing Dinesh for victory.

Moto-Rev’s Deepak Ravikumar inherited the second spot after the Gusto Racing rider’s fall, while Vivek Pillai completed the podium spots for Rockers Racing.

Double win for Pissay

In the Ladies class, Apex Racing’s Aishwarya Pissay overcame a slow start to win the race by over 10 seconds from Shruthi Nagarajan. Indore’s Kalyani Potekar finished third after being handed a 10-second penalty for causing a collision that took out Alisha Abdullah.

With this victory, Pissay extended her lead at the top of the championship to 65 points, 14 clear of Potekar.

The Bangalore-based rider also triumphed in the TVS one-make race, defeating Ann Jennifer and Priyamvada Saradhi to take the top step of the podium.

Meanwhile, Ryhana Bee A claimed a comprehensive win in Honda Ladies race, with Potekar clinching another podium with a second place finish. Shruthi Nagarajan rounded-off the rostrum slots.
