Pissay made a slow getaway from pole position, briefly dropping down to third place. But the Apex Racing rider fought her way through the field to regain the lead in a matter of laps.

On the final tour, Speed Up’s Kalyani Potekar passed Pissay to move to P1, only to make two costly mistakes at turns 3 and 4.

The errors allowed Pissay to repass Potekar and take a historic win by just 0.254s.

“I had a very bad start,” Pissay, who rides a Yamaha R15, said. “I don’t know what happened but I managed to regain my track position.

“I had a tough battle with Kalyani and in the last lap, I managed to close the door on her and it gave me just enough breathing space to win the race,”

Meanwhile, Alisha Abdullah secured the final spot on the podium on her return to motorcycle racing. The Chennai-based rider also set the fastest lap on her final tour.

Shruthi N and Ryhana Bee A completed the top five.

Pissay also emerged victorious in the TVS ladies race to secure a double. The Bangalore-born rider beat Chennai’s Soundari by a mammoth margin of 23 seconds, with Kokila Shiva Shankar completing the podium spots.
