The one-make series, which is held under the aegis of governing bodies FIM and FMSCI, will again be held concurrently to the JK Tyre National Racing Championship.

As has been the case for the past three years, riders will compete in one of the two categories, depending upon the age group they fall into.

Those above the age of 17 will race in the JK Tyre Suzuki Gixxer Cup, while riders aged between 12 and 16 years will be a part of the Red Bull Road to Rookies Cup category.

22 riders will be selected for the flagship Suzuki Gixxer Cup category, while 12 will be inducted into the Red Bull Road to Rookies Cup.

The selection process will take place on July 2 at Kari Motor Speedway. Chosen candidates will receive three days of intensive training, including theoretical sessions, on-track riding - all under the guidance of experts.

The riders will get their first chance to race in the season opener, which will be held on the weekend of July 05-08 at the same venue.

Kari Motor Speedway will also host the second and third round of the championship in September and October respectively, while the Buddh International Circuit will be the venue for the curtain closer.

The season finale will take place on November 15-18.

Mr Sajeev Rajasekharan, Executive Vice-President, Suzuki India said, “Over the last 3 seasons, Gixxer Cup has evolved into a sought-after platform for the budding racers in India, and a racing championship that motorsports-enthusiasts all over the country look-forward to.

“Laying the foundations for Suzuki’s global racing heritage in India, the Suzuki Gixxer Cup brings class leading motorcycle-racing infrastructure to the local talent by providing them an affordable platform at a fraction of a cost.

“The Gixxer Cup also showcases the real potential of the Gixxer SF motorcycles. We look forward to yet another thrilling-season, and wish the riders all the very best for the upcoming season.”
